Here is a fictional Nascar style Archer themed skin. I made this skin for NR2003 but have been playing around with LFS again...

Public skin, use or modify as you wish. 1024 size uploaded to LFSWorld. To be honest, I havent played in so long I have no idea if I even need to do that. haha.

Great resource! Glad this was a sticky. just started playing around with skinning on LFS, first skin I imported and my textures were out of shape...I found this thread minutes later.

it is a steep learning curve, but its easier if you start off with less rotation, for example try 400 degrees instead of 720 or 900, work your way up as you get comfortable.

Thanks for the quick reply. Ill download the tracks from the other thread, get a car ready, and try to meet up with you guys this weekend..

Pretty awesome they are autocross layouts, thats probably my favorite thing to do in LFS.

Hey guys, I just found your subforum here. Im interested in running some races/hotlaps with you guys.

I have had S2 for about a year but only played it occasionally, I have a few weeks experience with a non FFB steering wheel setup, mostly drifting, but just last week I upgraded to a DFP. Drifting is a lot tougher but now my racing seems to be smoother and more precise, but I still sometimes brake early and late, sometimes take turns too slow, you know, beginner type stuff Im not afraid to get out of the way on track if someone is all over me and I always aim to race clean.

Ill look for your server the next time I hop online.

if your desk is a little wobbly the dfp will likely shake it pretty good.

I built a stand to hold my wheel out of wood, and its quite sturdy and even it gets a little wobbly from the DFP.

if you are worried, go to a hardware store and get creative and brace your desk some more.

it is just a little confusing, i realize that the tire stacks mark the cut throughs on the track but its still kinda hard to visually see the turn until you are right on top of it. i drifted around on it for a half hour or so with an XRG and its a nice layout, I like all the little switchbacks.

perhaps some low walls on the inside of the track within the tire stacks and hay bales would make it easier to visualize the layout from a distance.

if you already have a 360 controller, the wireless adapter is $20.

If you have a wired controller I would try that out and see if you can find the drivers for it on the xbox website, worth a shot before dropping more cash on another controller.

Only reason I assume you may already have a controller is I think I recognize your name from Forza Central.

Quote from skstibi :I think a set of theese would look good on a XRT, I just can't figure out how to make them..

someone posted up pics of a bunch of mesh wheels like that on an XRT over at lfs torque. he hasnt released the .rim files yet though.

you really need to use photoshop or paint shop pro to take advantage of the layers in the master skinnerz kits. IMO, that is the best way to make skinning "easy"

Turn on the wireframe layer and its pretty darn easy to line things up from top to side. Dont get me wrong though, you probably will have to tweak it a few times to get it to look just right.

lots of rims for download. the fact of the matter is, some of the wheels people request...well theres already something just like them or very similiar already out there. Like that Rial Daytona looks just like any other bbs style wheel, so dig around and see what you find. Theres 2 bbs styled wheels in this thread alone, probably a few more on these other pages....

Someone asked for an ae86 style rim for the XRT...theres a good one in the first link here...

page 2 and up has the wheels here....

Many people also use Paint Shop Pro. I find it confusing, but been used to Photoshop since about version 6 but as I say, the best tool for the job (any job) is the one you're personally most comfortable with using

Haha, Im the opposite. Been using various versions of Paint Shop Pro since my youth, but I cant figure out Photoshop to save my life.

Being a few years since I actively used PSP, I taught myself layers last weekend so I could properly use the Master Skinnerz templates. Lets just say making skins has never been easier, and they end up looking great.

Quote from ATC Quicksilver :I have a lil collection, I am attempting to make a Nascar style Car of Tommorrow. At the moment I am tweaking the setup to try and stop some of the understeer and snap oversteer.

Anyway heres the wheels I made for it, 17inch 6 spokes. I tried to make them look like racing wheels.

looks good I like it.

Quote from Btoryo :nice but i think they should be curved a bit. i mean the spokes are flat. they should be curved a bit

well, with the XRG and XRT rims, theres only so many vertices that can be moved. To get the twin spoke look you have to stretch 1 spoke across the whole wheel instead of just to the center, so mostly you are stuck with straight spokes. This also limited how I was able to do the center of the wheel, I couldnt dish it in any more without the spokes sticking through the center. I dunno maybe theres some tricks I dont know yet.

OH yeah, any and all of my work is open for editing so anyone feel free to tweak to your liking.

FWIW, the XFG wheel could probably produce much better results, it has twin spokes on the base wheel, basically twice as many available vertices for the spokes compared to the XR wheels.

Quote from funnybone2 :they look great you like 4 spokes dont ya?

I like retro style wheels.

Actually someone asked about converting my other 4 spokes to XRT so I just made a new set that was slightly different, and looked better with larger wheels.
